MRE / Re: Apply Here to Become A Mod or Reviewer Recruiter
« on: Yesterday at 04:05 pm »
MSM Recruiter Application - Experiences that make me qualified:
- Moderator on here since 2014, previously ran some recruitment centers on here, have had multiples moderator positions on forums as well for Debate Tower, various game discussions, game shows, etc.
- Not really sure what would constitute ‘helpful outside experiences,’ besides being a moderator of another platform (which I admittedly am not)  but I can also take about some club and other leadership positions and stuff in more detail if that would help paint a better picture as well

I already did.
step 1: initial app (kept b/c it always for pre-screening to make sure applicants who apply are actually viable candidates and don't waste their time with further stages - this would be improved to allow anyone who reasonably has a shot at editor (i.e. isn't extremely immature i.e. automatically passes as long as their application is within reason -> this would make it less 'based on my opinion' than before), step 2: follow-up questions in pms (make sure they can actually defend what they said and it has substantive value - I will ask them to provide 5 games that fit into the narrative they are trying to build for themselves as an editor for this stage -> stages will vary based on the person but all will be judged equally and fairly -> different people have different goals and agendas as editors so this allows them to convey this), step 3: applicants write a review on a game they find feature worthy (can currently either be feature or unfeatured, though preferably unfeatured but they can pass either way - they can 'reserve' games though if they do find one before this stage), stage 4: voting (would be willing to do down to 70-75% depending on the general consensus)
all time limits would also be essentially removed (applicants would have 1 month per stage), so they can take the adequate time they need to complete stages yet there would be the 1 month restriction to prevent members from taking a break for like 2-3 months and then coming back for example
other pm'd tasks would be removed
tl:dr -> stage 1: initial stage (all accepted if they have a realistic possibility of becoming editor and don't blow off app), stage 2: follow-up (ask few questions based on app, they provide 5 games to supplement their responses), stage 3: review (analyze why they find a game feature worthy essentially), stage 4: voting (70-75% yes needed based on general consensus)

My advice would be not to focus on your system but the way you treat people here. It doesn't bother me personally but it will have an effect on the way others feel
All of them still said no before any of this so yeah.

You do have a chance to prove it, design your system and show it to them.
I already did.

I'm just the messenger, but what I was essentially saying is that everyone who was deciding on things now (the current active staff) excluding myself said no, and everyone in the past who've also given input have said no and not once has anyone necessarily ever said yes. In the beginning the strict nature of your system was the subject of critique, but now it's moreso focused on your bad attitude. We can't predict the future, but that's the case as of now.
If we're gonna be honest with ourselves, the 'people who decided it' would say no regardless and will continue to say no if there's, as you said, never been a point when they said yes.  If they said no even before I ran the last recruitment, what would make them magically change their mind if I have no chance to even prove I can run a 'satisfactory' recruitment center?

What's done is done
Yes, what’s done is done for now but that doesn’t mean I can’t address this issue for future scenarios.

essentially every single active staff member on discord has said no in the past, I don't recall any yeses.
Because they said no awhile ago in the past, does that mean it is impossible for me to become a recruiter say 6 months or a year from today even?  That seems kinda like a flawed system tbh.

If they said no in the past, what makes you think they wouldn’t change their mind by now?

this discussion has taken place before already and I couldn't formulate a response superior to my ones from before because my memory is hazy. I will, if I didn't before, admit my fault in not having a confirmation sign off with the rest of the team, and for that I am sorry, but either way the outcome that occured would have been the same regardless of what I did, so the what happened was inevitable. The lack of asking you to revise the system was due to a past agreement on you not running it to begin with.
Yet, oddly enough, I was never made aware of that past agreement either in any way.

When I was paying for the server I had no money saved up. Never have. I was working a job that made me miserable for $11 an hour and a lot of that went towards the server. I know you don't want my sob story but it was a lot of time I invested into this job. Eventually I couldn't do it anymore so I put a bunch of extra money into the server to ensure it doesn't die out once I suddenly lost all my money because I'm really bad at that sort of stuff. I killed off the server not because I couldn't pay for it anymore, there's still 7 months worth of funds inside of that account. I can't just pull it out even if I wanted to, it's only to be used with my server provider now. I pulled the plug to ensure that money could be used for the future, not because I gained anything. It was simply a pragmatic decision made to ensure the forum would last as long as possible. Nothing I've done thus far has been for selfish intentions because I gain nothing from doing this. I don't make friends from doing this, I don't gain respect or anything. I don't even want to make this post because it isn't as big of a deal as it might seem like I'm making it out to be, I only say this because I want to point out that I'm not hellbent on asserting myself in a position of power for the sake of anything selfish. I pulled the plug while I was still a private on this forum, under the assumption the only ones in power would be Brocky and Geoff. It wasn't my decision to have Brocky approach me and offer me the general position because he would be going inactive.
If you don't care about asserting your authority in all aspects of the site, what made you inclined to shut down my recruitment center before the rest of the moderators confirmed they wanted it shut down?  Or, why didn't you give me a chance to revise it or bring your problems to me in the first place?  I mean, it's not like you are even an editor or anything like that.

Wow, I'm shocked you didn't pick me to run any of the recruitments.  Didn't see that one coming.

Another one? Come on meta, you have potential for other concepts.
Lol the name was just supposed to be a joke while I actually come up with an actual name for the game.

I'll relay it to the rest of the staff team, but others have already asked so it isn't guaranteed.
Alright, let me know when the final decisions are made.  Also, as a sidenote, just wanted to leave it out there that if you guys are splitting up the recruitment operations between three different people, my top preference would be to run the editor recruitment.

Can I run the MRE recruitment now that sean wants to pass down his responsibilities?

Can a General please pass this on to somebody else ( and consider deleting the thread as well, people keep PMing PepperedSteak ) ? I've stated in the Discord and @'d Majors about my wishes to pass on my EGD Committee and MRE Recruitment responsibilities but they didn't answer...
I would be willing to run the MRE recruitment.

Why should he pay for it when this forum exists? He decided to stop paying for it when this forum returned, if I do recall correctly.
I never said whether he should or shouldn’t pay for he server; I was merely answering anew’s question.

Are you a pepega

why the hell would he get rid of the DB and TK websites then?
if he cares only about his own power to control the forums why would he restore the original website with geoff having complete control
Because he didn’t want to pay for the .tk server anymore.

I never once said I hated Liam and I don't recall once saying anything public about what he did that was negative towards him. I genuinely forgive him and still quite like and even look up to him.
You like what he did since now you essentially have complete control of the forums.

Smh, you need to be 30 or older to be a moderator.  This website is meant exclusively for adults.
