Personal Exhibition / Simplistic Java Calculator
« on: June 20, 2013, 02:44 pm »
Cliché time of the week has come, as toady I have created a calculator in Java. Please pardon the potential lack of spaces:

Master Class (Putts all of the Code Together):

Code: [Select]
package Calculator;
import java.util.Scanner;

public class Master {

public static void main (String args[]){

int data;
System.out.println("Please enter the value of your operation (1 for Addition, 2 for Subtraction, 3 for Multiplication and 4 for Division");
Scanner operator = new Scanner(System.in);
data = operator.nextInt();

switch (data){

case 1:
Addition additionObject = new Addition();
additionObject.answerAddition();
break;

case 2:
Subtraction subtractionObject = new Subtraction();
subtractionObject.answerSubtraction();
break;

case 3:
Multiplication multiplicationObject = new Multiplication();
multiplicationObject.answerMultiplication();
break;

case 4:
Division divisionObject = new Division();
divisionObject.answerDivision();
break;
}
}
}

Addition Class:

Code: [Select]
package Calculator;
import java.util.Scanner;

public class Addition {

public void answerAddition(){

double fnum, snum, answer;
System.out.println("You have Selected Addition... Please Enter your First Number");

Scanner problem = new Scanner(System.in);
fnum = problem.nextDouble();
System.out.print("Number");
System.out.println("Recrded");

System.out.println("Now, Enter Your Second Number");
snum = problem.nextDouble();
answer = snum + fnum;

System.out.println("Your Answer is..." + answer);
}
}

Subtraction Class:

Code: [Select]
package Calculator;
import java.util.Scanner;

public class Subtraction {

public void answerSubtraction(){

double fnum, snum, answer;
System.out.println("You have Selected Subtraction... Please Enter your First Number");

Scanner problem = new Scanner(System.in);
fnum = problem.nextDouble();
System.out.print("Number");
System.out.println("Recrded");

System.out.println("Now, Enter Your Second Number");
snum = problem.nextDouble();
answer = fnum - snum;

System.out.println("Your Answer is..." + answer);
}
}

Multiplication Class:

Code: [Select]
package Calculator;
import java.util.Scanner;

public class Multiplication {

public void answerMultiplication(){

double fnum, snum, answer;
System.out.println("You have Selected Multiplication... Please Enter your First Number");

Scanner problem = new Scanner(System.in);
fnum = problem.nextDouble();
System.out.print("Number");
System.out.println("Recrded");

System.out.println("Now, Enter Your Second Number");
snum = problem.nextDouble();
answer = snum * fnum;

System.out.println("Your Answer is..." + answer);
}
}

Division Class:

Code: [Select]
package Calculator;
import java.util.Scanner;

public class Division {

public void answerDivision(){

double fnum, snum, answer;
System.out.println("You have Selected Division... Please Enter your First Number");

Scanner problem = new Scanner(System.in);
fnum = problem.nextDouble();
System.out.print("Number");
System.out.println("Recrded");

System.out.println("Now, Enter Your Second Number");
snum = problem.nextDouble();
answer = fnum / snum;

System.out.println("Your Answer is..." + answer);
}
}

Please feel free to leave your criticism and praises. They're always welcome ^_^.

So, I attempt (operative word) to download Eclipse IDE and half way through a one hour download, it just stops. No error messages, no pop-ups, it just stops.

S.O.S. Anyone know how to fix this?

Look down at that little orange button under the thread. See it? If you will, make a post with one random word describing something close to you (Dogs, Love, Computers, etc.).

Now, that's the last of the patronizing. If you follow those instructions, I will write for you a custom poetic piece. So enjoy it and have fun.

One final note: this will only be open until Sunday.

Since EGD is approaching, and so is the release of some of the year's best games, I decided it was time to promote FatherDroid (Hype Thread: http://forums.sploder.com/index.php/topic,337283.0.html) outside of the EGD category. So, to begin my campaign, I give you a contest.

If you post below, you will be assigned a random number. Next weekend, 6 Numbers will be drawn and 6 prizes can be one. But what can you win, I hear you ask?

Prizes

1st Place:
- 1 FatherDroid Testing Key
- Father Engine Access Key
- Access to the Game's Extended Soundtrack
- A Signed Concept Art Booklet for the Game (PDF)

5 Runners Up:
- 1 FatherDroid Testing Key
- Access to the Game's Soundtrack
- Concept Art Booklet (PDF)

So what are you waiting for, get posting and I wish you all the best of luck.

Game Hyping / A Couple of Productions I have in the Works
« on: May 31, 2013, 07:36 pm »
Just a little few projects to keep me going through the Summer and Autumn months. So without further ado, I give you...

...A Reboot:
Nova II: Cataclysm

With greatly improved gameplay, a new, luscious aesthetic design and a reworked story, Nova II fixes what the original failed at while still maintaining the Nova ambiance.

Whether you are veteran or a newcomer, Nova II will keep pilots of all levels flying. The revamped plot-line is backed by a substantial amount of post game content, giving those who take down the threat in the stars an extra challenge. Finding secrets gives you tokens for Cyclone Games HQ, which can be used to purchase special content (E.g. Extra Missions/Levels, Intensity Levels, Challenge Modes) or pre-order upcoming games.

Play the Original Game Here

...And a Project for EGD 2013:
FatherDroid

Maxim Tomato is dedicated to bringing you only the best puzzle games on Sploder, and with our latest offering we hope not to disappoint.

FatherDroid is a Sci-Fi/Puzzle Shooter with a difference. From its lovingly crafted story and representative universe to its stylised mechanics, FatherDroid aims to have an experience for all groups of players. More will be revealed at the Cyclone E3 weekend on Tinychat.

I hope to see you enjoying these games when they are launched, and I will try my hardest to craft an enjoyable experience for you.

(BTW: I might be going all Spellmage on you. Guess what that means while you wait for the announcement :P)

Without further ado, my most recent of writing. This has been submitted to the Young Writers Poetry Games Competition 2013, an event that allows youth to tackle serious issues through the medium of writing.

So with that, I present to you, Blood Stained Eyes: The Improvised Version

The star light
From the night
Shines off my blood stained eyes
There I lay

The pain grows
My blood glows
But I am not the last
There I lay

Bang! Now I fly
To him I fly
Resenting all the while
All the same

My very kind
Have killed many
Millions have fallen
All the same

Why does my hand
Fell so many
I just follow orders
Why?

I feel quite scared
Trapped and alone
I see their blood stained eyes
Why?

I have no clue as to where to put this, as I feel this thread doesn't fit posting criteria in the official forum. So, I placed it here, right in a little nested General.

I am currently producing a couple of video series for OfficialSploder, and they are centred around one of my specialities, game theory. So, without further ado, I present...

Derpings of a Designer
I take the floor and work with viewers and forumites alike to create a game. Along the way, I'll look at pre-production, documentation, production and testing strategies, as well as their relative pros and cons.

Theoretics with a HappyTheorist
Each episode, we will explore a feature of game theory, and discuss how we use them to make our games better. Sometimes, I'll let you chose an episode topic.

If you have any ideas for these videos, I would be flattered if you left a comment below. Same for questions.

   The scriptures of old tell of a single, courageous hero. He wielded the legendary Twin Axes of Reartendraf and cleaved through evil’s darkness. Not any source of death or destruction could reach the kingdom’s heart.

   But one day, that all changed with the untimely death of the hero. Famine tore the land into five competitive factions. These were each named after their main trait, Valianta, Tactarea, Mastratey, Swishua and Taanook. During their fights for supremacy, thousands lost their lives to wars, famine, disease and more. Rebellions were frequent and entire species of city dwelling vermin were created by the evil in the hearts of the people.

   The sheer amounts of sin and chaos created the Heathen Flower, a fauna with five gloomy petals, one to represent each faction. Power emitted from the plant was said to have spelled the doom of many more innocents then a schism could ever could.

   It is said that several heroes will rise from the ashes, the remains of the ancients’ secrets. The prophets of our sacred land point their fingers at you and many others. They ask you to rise and take upon them the weight of our ruined land. Embark on your quest, and should you succeed, great riches and respect could await you.

The People of Reartendraf need your assitance. Will you answer your call to adventure? If so, fill out the hero's resume below so we can learn how you fight.

The Grand Hero's Resume
Hero Name:
Previous RPG Experience:
Faction (Please Read Intro):
Weakest Trait:
Preffered Weapon (Chose from: Sword, Lance, Bow, Dagger, Axe):
Character Backstory:

Once you have joined our forces, be sure to scavenge for items, craft weapons and items, organize your inventory (Only 10 items to start out with), gather advice from NPCs and put together strategies before the first chapter begins.

Ingame, you will be able to fight other heros in other factions (Only if they are online), combat monsters, gain exp, forge and reforge items, use shops, find money, enchant weapons, brew potions, explore and much more.

General / As We Lay There Dead [Poetry][Feedback?]
« on: April 11, 2013, 02:33 pm »
The evil just laughed
And their vessels looked upon
Us, laying there dead

The darkness just danced
And their masters screamed and pranced
As we lay there dead

The morals were gone
And all justice had crumbled
When we lay there dead

It is for my EGD project, and I was hoping that someone with writing experience could help me out. After all, it is a sneak peak ;)

I'm talking about the deeper, emotional side to love, violence, ethics and morals, human fault, death and reanimation, and the list continues. Heck, you could teach someone with an interactive medium such as our own. WHy don't we use these, maturer themes?

What happened to critisism? I posted a review recently and it has gotten very little attention. I don't mind if everyone says it's horrible, or completely disregards this and the review due to my comment, but without criteque, how am I to improve?

It is entirely up to you if you want to follow that link. If you like the review, so be it. If you want to disregard it. However, if you chose to do so, please do leave a comment on how I can improve.
