Game Hyping / My New Plat: Paint It Black

I hope you enjoy it. I put an incredible amount of thought into it. I realize some of you may not like the style, since it's a little different and slow paced at times, but I hope you can at least appreciate what I've done here.

Based on the video Mrdragon showed me, I now know for sure that he is a genius when it comes to the shooter creator.

So if you guys are waiting days for your application to be looked over, that might not happen anymore. It depends if I have enough time to read through them. I have pretty high standards though.

General / Worst Pain I Have Ever Felt
« on: July 12, 2012, 05:19 am »
This Swimmer's Ear is killing me. My ear feels like it is on fire, and it feels like someone just stabbed my ear with a knife, lol. I think I am having reactions to the ear drops, so I think those are making it worse. There is no way I'll be able to sleep tonight.

General / I Think I Have Swimmer's Ear
« on: July 11, 2012, 12:54 am »
It's a type of ear infection that is normally associated with excessive swimming. I'm pretty sure I have it but I shoud probably make an appointment with the doctor to get antibiotics for it, since it can get pretty bad and in some cases it can cause hearing loss. The pain in my ear is now spreading to my jaw, which is pretty common for swimmer's ear I believe. I've never had an ear infection before so it threw me off guard lol.

General / My Top 10 Favorite Game Makers on Sploder
« on: July 07, 2012, 11:09 am »
I've never done this so I'll give you my opinion on my top 10 favorite game makers here. Dont feel bad if you're not on the list. I'm not mentioning some greats of Sploder's history. This is my favorites list, not necessarily the best game makers. All opinionated and based on professional viewpoints as well. This is in no particular order.

-Lumberjay: In my opinion, he makes the best PPG's on the site. Although I am not a huge fan of a couple of them, including Aurum and IBM Strike (I know most people like this one though, not really my favorite), he really does use some impressive concepts in his PPG's. Not to mention that his own take on the Zelda games were just about spot on. His platformers are also impressive, although I have not been able to try Atlantis yet. My favorite platformer from him is The Will of the Demon Slayer, followed by The Legend of Ganandorf closely behind. They are certainly not my favorite platformers, but he definitely has talent with the platformer creator as well. With that being said, I have to have him on my list of favorites.

Tookewl: Although I have honestly not tried a majority of his games, the games (shooters) I do try never cease to amaze me, and even top most of the current shooters I play today. I was never around when he really shined on this site back in the days, but i do know that he did have a huge impact on the shooter creator at the time. I also respect Took as a person as well, and I think his personality really shows in his games too. His talent for the shooter creator alone is enough for me to place him in my top 10.

Bobbler: I'll admit, I am not a fan of the Cybergangster series. I dont find them too entertaining, and that's only based on my personal taste. However, I do see there is a lot of effort put into them, and I must respect the epicness that lies within both games of the series, and they both deserve the attention they receive. Bobbler is one of the few people I have discovered that is noticeably talented with every creator (though he's only made one or two 3D games I believe). I was also really impressed with the way he designed the PPG "Fear" as well, being one of my favorite PPG's just because of how much i enjoyed it at the time of its release. Bobbler is certainly one of my favorite creators because of the personality he brings into his games and the variety of talent he brings to the table.

Mrdragon: He has some of the best modern shooters I've played on the site, and perhaps one of the best on the site altogether (Energy). The ideas he comes up with and the simplistic yet stunning visuals he uses in the shooter creator is way beyond most members on this site, including myself. He is personally my favorite shooter creator, and thus should be up here. I am looking forward to seeing more games from him, and although he dislikes the platformer from my understanding, I would like to see what he could do with that creator or any of the other creators

Rhabbit: Certainly not the best game maker, but the games he did make (mainly with the PPG) were extremely entertaining to me. All his PPG's were made before the graphics creator, which makes them even more impressive with the graphics he did incorporate into each PPG game. Just with his talent alone with the PPG creator combined with the entertainment he brought with each one, along with some of his platformer creations, I have to put him on the list.

General / Who Has Seen Final Destination 5?
« on: July 03, 2012, 10:39 am »
I saw it a couple days ago. Funniest movie I've ever seen. I couldn't stop laughing, mainly half way through and on. The acting and directing was absolutely awful.

General / Made Changes to a Few Games
« on: July 02, 2012, 11:05 pm »
Since I am just relaxing tonight, I decided to go back through my games and make a few changes. Some people may not think this is a big deal but I want my games to be as good as I can make them. So these are the changes I made.

Night Terrors: I had 3 lives in level one instead of one, so got rid of those. Very minor, lol.
Sanguinary: I really like this game but I know there are some who do not. I did get rid of some snaggers in the later levels as I know this annoyed some people. I really dont see anything else wrong with it.
Psychotic Pong: I edited the second level because I had a block placement that is now not right because of a glitch that occured when I first made it was fixed by Geoff. Simple change but I should have caught it sooner.
Psychotic Pong 2: Since this is going to be inducted into the EGL, I made the last level easier. This level is brutal, and I took out a few enemies and made the last shot easier. It's still a very delicate and tricky level, but I did make it easier to be more fair.
And finally, Cryptic Desert: Which, I think, is my most under appreciated game for some reason. The only flaw that I, and a few others found, was that there were no background tiles in the underground part. So I added background tiles so the underground areas match the rest of the game. I know some people did not like this game as much as I had hoped, but this will hopefully make the game stand out a little more.

I know these are minor changes, but I do like to improve on things, even if it is only minor.

General / The Caribbean Has Been Great
« on: July 02, 2012, 07:08 pm »
So far I've been on wave runners for a while, went kayaking for the first time (went hella far, lol), and have done quite a bit of swimming and relaxing on the beach. The water is really nice here. Great vacation so far, just waiting to go to dinner as I made reservations for this nice little restaurant about a mile away from the resort. I recommend the Cayman Islands to anyone. Very nice people here, great food and a great atmosphere in my opinion. Hope you all are doing nice.

Going on vacation. I may pop in here and there but most likely I will not come on for the next 7 or 8 days. Good luck with the EGD ;) I'll be back for a majority of it.

These threads have to stop. They are incredibly annoying and just get you pointless thank you's. Is this really how bored and perhaps desperate you guys are? Lol.

General / Question for the Plat
« on: June 25, 2012, 02:48 pm »
I've never made a multi level plat and I was wondering, is lag based on each individual level or all of the levels combined? If I made 20 levels but each level only had 500 objects, would the game be based on each individual set of 500 objects or the combined 10,000 objects? If this makes sense...

General / Burning Hip Pain...
« on: June 25, 2012, 12:26 pm »
I never get pains in my hips, but for some reason my left hip is burning, and it just started happening randomly while I was in bed. Anyone ever get this? I think I just slept on it wrong or something.

General / Personally...
« on: June 24, 2012, 09:34 pm »
If I was really entering my game for the EGD, I would not want any testers, with the exception of lag testing. Receiving tips from others prior to publishing doesn't seem right for a competition, since you guys do consider this a significant competition. I feel the same way about hyping too. Hyping a little is good, but it seems like almost everyone is going overboard on the hypes and updates on their games. I wouldn't even have a hype, lol. Perhaps my thought process is just different from everyone else's, but that's my perspective.

General / I'm Liking the Spirit Here
« on: June 24, 2012, 12:59 am »
I just wanna wish everyone luck in the EGD, and even if you do not win or do not achieve much from it, I just hope everyone can appreciate the quality of their own games and other games as well and the time everyone put into their games. We certainly do have a lot of talent here.
