His lack of a display name is a terrible influence to the privates.

OFF WITH HIS HEAD
But I do have a display name. It just consists of a single, blank character. Since I do have a display name you therefore have no grounds to demote me. However, I see you threatening me with death which is very much grounds for demotion. We can't have people wantonly issuing death threats here on the forum. Poor influence on the young'uns, don't you know? Shall I just ban you outright or would you like to rage in P.o.W. for a time?

Blasphemous thread! By what dark sorcery are you still alive?!? Why won't you perish in the abyss with the rest of your foul comrades?

+1 for being observant!
Sploder is finally out of the beta testing stage? And it only took 4 years!

By the by, G-Man, were you not planning on making some grand modifications to the comment and moderation systems on the Sploder main site? Did you abandon that idea?

The moderation panel does not seem to be working. There also seem to be some formatting issues with it. All the tabs are squished together. It's like a group hug gone wrong.

This topic need not be carried on any further. Geoff57 has already received a warning for his comments so there is no need to argue about this.

I have what you call "Phobiaphobia", i.e. the irrational fear of being irrationally afraid of stuff. True story.

Can I call you broski? xD
I'd be insulted if you didn't.
Please stop arguing over a pathetic thread. It's utter nonsense and it needs to stop. Despite your efforts, do you think luigi would have said something if you couldn't do it, yes, yes he would have, but he didn't.
Actually, I don't know the rule. I respond to all ban requests that catch my eye. Personally, I don't think that a rule about not posting ban requests in general really exists. It is preferred that you use PM's because we will be more likely to notice them but whatever is fine.

Did you even look at the link? It's an MS ban. Really, you need to stop assuming.
Now, now. The matter is resolved. No use arguing over trifles such as this, broski.

The "Report" function is pretty handy for tracking down those nasty comments and cleaning them up. Only report a post if it's offensive.

Thanks guys. Stay classy.  :)
Do this job well and you just may be rewarded for it. ;)

Simplicity is the very persona of Apple. Functionality/versatility is secondary.
You know what else is simple? A rock. Maybe apple should market that as their new iOS7?

A mouse is more functional and versatile with two buttons because you don't need to hold control when you want to right-click something.

nd the mice. God the mice.
Is it too much to ask to have a mouse with two buttons?

LOL macs sux. I hope it burns in hell, even though we use them for school ;-;
The one main reason why I hate the Mac is because it doesn't seem to have a task manager, which means I can't look at all the open applications and running processes in one convenient place and shut down the things that are causing the most drain on the system.

How did you type all that with your shiitty computer?
My campus has a thousand great computers I could use whenever I need them. Actually, more like 500 hundred great computers because the other 500 are Macs. :P

I think everyone has forgotten the true point of Solider. It's for mature members.
That at least was the true point of it. The true role of a soldier is somewhat up for debate at the moment.

Dear god Casper and Spell, do you have to swear in every post?

Anyways, just make the test optional and set a limit for the number of yes's a user has to have.
If the test is optional then most people won't take it, anyway.

- I.P bans: This type of ban is used in a serious situation. Sometimes, if a ban doesn't work out and the user tries to evade the ban by creating an alt, I.P bans work best. Banning a user in this method will disable them from logging on or creating a new account using that I.P address, these bans can sometimes be temporary. I.P bans will make sure that the user has no way of evading the ban and is forced to wait. I would use this ban on a last resort if I have already issued a ban, but the user persists and creates an alt to continue.
I.P. Bans on the MS don't prevent a user from logging in. I thought this misconception was cleared up long ago. When an I.P. is blocked it just prevents anybody using that I.P. from commenting or sending awards. That's it. Moderators have no way of completely banning somebody from the M.S. Not that this really pertains to anything. I just get annoyed whenever people get confused by this.

I do have one complaint about this application, however: I don't think it is fair to ask applicants questions about the mod panel and its inner-workings. I never did when I gave tests because non-mods don't have access to information about the mod panel because they can't use the darn thing. Yes, they can see it with URL manipulation but we've always discouraged that. Questions about the hacklog and other things that they can't see should not be used because they can't SEE them. You are asking them to know about something they can't possibly really know about anyway, apart from what is written in my guide. That being said, what I see written in the app you gave as an example I see basically what is written in my guide and that makes me think that people could just copy/paste what I wrote and re-word it.

Ultimately, what is important in a perspective moderator is not in his/her knowledge of mod powers and features, of which they will learn pretty quickly if/when they get promoted, but his/her problem solving and conflict management skills as well as their knowledge of the rules of being a moderator and it is on these things that they should be tested. Basically, I don't see it as fair to ask people to define all of a MSM's powers because you can't know them all until you actually become a MSM.

As for the system as a whole, I disapprove. The application seems ultimately pointless when it really just comes down to who gets the most thanks. (By the way, who can give thanks? Is it just recruiters or can anybody give thanks? Your thread doesn't really specify, at least not in the first post.) This is sort of the problem I had with ben's old system. Recruiters would get in the habit of not really reading applications but just thanking the posts of people they like. Sure, they will read the application but 90% of the time they will have made up their mind before even reading the darn thing. I think casper had a point when she said that the system would become largely popularity based. I also agree with her thinking that a test would help the system. Also, people will eventually just start copying the basic formats of applications that get accepted and we will eventually run into the other problem of ben's system, wherein all the applications began to look more or less the same and you couldn't really tell who the good applicants were and who the bad ones were, thus forcing us to have to judge each application by the poster rather than by the application itself.

True, no evidence of any bad moderating as a result of your system has surfaced as of yet, but that does not mean that problems have not arisen. The powers of a MSM are rather limited and thus their mistakes are a lot less glaring than those of forum moderators (Not that we ever make mistakes... save for grant of course.) and have a lot less impact on those involved.

I'm interested now. So far, who's been promoted through your system? I would like to check up on their progress thus far.

How many weegees does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

Only 1, he just holds the lightbulb and waits for the world to revolve around him.
Reminds me of the time that I toyed with the notion that anybody who was completely out of my range of perception (I can't see, hear, smell, touch, or taste the) no longer existed until they came back into my range of perception.

I'm not sure why this was moved to the archives but I think it can still be useful. I'm not going to be reviewing reviews as I once did, though, so I've locked this.

You're welcome. While I didn't personally take you out, I was the one who made the higher-ups see the light and understand that you didn't really do anything worth punishing you over.

D: you're so cruel

whats your name
Now that is a good question. I shall not answer it. Find somebody who knows it and ask them. Tell them they have my blessing to tell you what they know.
