Im not on either side for the actual drama thing but theres no need to have a huge power boner considering you dont even do anything whatsoever. Nobody answered his question and someone couldve refuted and disproven his points properly but nah, lets just lock the thread and piss him off. Maybe you should just not use your mod powers whatsoever, theres really no point in you having them

Alternatively, this has come up several times, and it has been refuted several times by different people, but Meta refuses to accept anyone's refutation or explanation and continues to push a narrative of being horribly oppressed by the mods by being denied power, which over time has caused all of the mods to move to the position that he shouldn't have power at all, and by this point no one wants to discuss it with him further because there is nothing to say on the subject that hasn't already been said to him.

(Actually, the staff team is a secret anti-Meta Knight cabal, we wish for him to suffer, and the concept of rationality or fair play means nothing to us. You figured us out.)

The way romantic feelings/attraction and sexual feelings/attraction are produced work separate from each other, and it's possible to feel one without feeling the other. This is why asexual people can still have crushes and still fall in love.

"Hetero" doesn't have to mean heterosexual, het ace people are still het.

It's worth noting that in this verse:

9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

the word translated as "abusers of themselves with mankind", more commonly read as "homosexuals", is "arsenokoitai". It was never used even rarely in discussions of homosexuality before that; there were several other words he could have easily used to more clearly illustrate his point, if he intended to condemn homosexuality in the first place, which the Corinthian churches almost certainly would have understood. "Arsenokoitai", however, is a compound of "man" and "bed", coined by Paul. Given the general messaging of the New Testament, I'd find it far more likely that this refers to an interpretation along the lines of "men who live in luxury" than "men who have sex with men". Even if you take the anti-gay reading, neither "arsenokoitai" -- translated in KJV as "abusers of themselves with mankind", or "malakos" -- translated in KJV as "effeminate", make any comment on lesbian sexuality.

Additionally, it's worth noting that in the cultural context of the time---ancient Greece---it wasn't particularly uncommon for Greek men to have sex and romantic relationships with each other, and this wasn't generally considered effeminate. Male-male relationships were generally considered to be superior to male-female relationships. This makes it very unlikely "malakos", which generally would mean soft, flexible delicate, etc. is referring to gay men.

This is awfully accusatory either way. As has been mentioned by Sticki it's not that we're all evil nepotists from hell, it's simply that there wasn't anything else at the time.

Because the positions themselves and recruiting are different matters. If a user doesn't go on the MS very much that doesn't mean it's not possible for them to identify key characteristics for those who would hold MS badges. It's silly to place an undue amount of importance on having applied for the position, because a lot of forum users are not as active on the mainsite.

Another thing I'd like to point out is that you claim to know the steps for a fair and unbiased application process, but it would be just as sensible to claim that you have been nepotistic in recruitment as it is to claim that the forum staff is nepotistic in reassigning recruitment with the forum transfers. It's not like we're trying to snub you but the recruitments have never been any one person's position, and generally everyone has viewed it that way. Inactivity is usually the reason for transfer but I would argue an equally valid reason is stagnation. One person or group of people maintaining the recruitment for an overly long time will inevitably allow their own personal biases to seep into who's approved and who's not. And before you point out this happens with the forum staff as well, this is entirely true and was increasingly on display in the final years/months of the forum---the staff decisions, outlook, promotions, etc. was generally controlled by the fact there were several members who ended up babysitting their positions. (While I don't agree with Liam's deletion of the forum I'm almost certain this played a huge part in it.) I'm not claiming this isn't a problem that doesn't apply to the forum staff but I think we've all been trying to avoid recreating those circumstances.

Thanking is enabled, at least for me. I don't think displaying the thanks has ever been a default feature of SMF though.
