No worries. She shouldn't be dancing around this, you should confront her about why she keeps changing the subject. Using straws for fizzy drinks will definitely help but for a solution that's more long term and better altogether you really should just change to drinking water. Easier said than done of course but worth it.

Bite the bullet and go to the dentist. Lay off the fizzy drinks completely as well and replace them with water (drink sparkling if you're hooked on the fizz). Brush after every meal, get an electric toothbrush for best results. It's better to deal with this immediately than to keep your current habits and regret it in what will eventually be your adult life. Best of luck man
