General / So I've been gone a while...
« on: February 04, 2013, 05:50 pm »
I haven't gotten an internet connection for around the past four months. I was wondering, has anything interesting or important happened in that time? You know, updates, additions, etc.

No lies, only truth.

General / So I've been gone for about a week and a half...

I'm a bit curious, has anything interesting happened in that time?

General / Opinions (You know the drill...)

It's simple. You post an honest opinion of me, and I shall return in kind. If this sounds appealing to you, then post below.

Kylepeanut12. You won my contest. As promised, I've made a thread where I worship you. Here goes:

O Kylepeanut, how I seek to follow in your benevolent footsteps. The mightiest of warriors shall tremble at your feet. The lame shall walk, and the deaf shall hear. All because of your grace and power, O Hallowed One. You serve as a beacon of hope for all members of Sploder, and indeed, all of mankind. You also have a bigger richard than me.

There, are you happy?

General / Time for a fun little contest...

Here's how it'll work. It's quite simple, really. I'm going to think of a number between 50 and 80. Whoever can guess the number wins an MS award, and I will also grant them one wish, any wish that is within my power to grant.
NOTE: Only one guess per post (For example, no "51 52 53 54..." in one post).
Let the games begin...

General / Do You Consider Video Games Art?

Do you think of interactive games as an art form? Why or why not?

I've seen quite a few of these in the past couple of minutes. And, as I have not a single original bone in my body, I shall create one myself.

General / The Bacon Thread
« on: July 14, 2012, 11:03 pm »
This is a thread completely and utterly devoted to the beauty that is bacon. Here we can talk about bacon, post pictures and videos of bacon, and, as a community, participate in bacon-related activities.

Nowhere else on this forum is there a utopia so perfectly crafted around meaty, greasy, crunchy goodness. This thread is all your dreams come true, the culmination of taste-bud pleasure.

Unfortunately, however, even this place of peace and love cannot last forever. Come, my brethren, and enjoy this! Enjoy it while you can!

It's for this game I'm thinking of doing. It starts off having you be a diplomat to a hostile tribe, but war soon erupts. The backstory basically fills you in on how it all started, what leads up to it, etc. Anyway, here it is:

Ages ago, there existed a land. This land, now lost to us, was home to many tribes and kingdoms. One such tribe was known as the Ronea. The Ronea had long been revered throughout the land for their courage and bravery in battle. They lived simple, honest lives, working their hardest and doing what they could to support their families, for family was very important to the Ronea.

For the Ronea, and for most of the other people in the land, it was an era of peace. As with all good things, however, this peace ended. A new group of people, calling themselves the Technisi, rose into power. Their amoral, technology-driven, dishonest society shocked and appalled most people of the land. The Ronea were especially dismayed. However, most people decided to keep quiet. They could not understand, and were afraid of, the Technisi’s advanced technology and weaponry. For the Technisi had created weapons that could fling beams of deadly energy, which most people perceived as some sort of evil magic. They also fortified their strongholds with deadly, complicated traps, and built towering war machines the likes of which the land had never seen. The Technisi’s weaponry was vastly superior to the other tribe’s swords, shields and maces. For a while, there was an uneasy peace between the Technisi and the other, terrified tribes. Then the terror struck.

Representatives of the Technisi traveled from city to city, attempting to covert the tribes to their way of life. Most tribes, including the Ronea, rejected what they saw as a corrupt society. In retaliation, some of the more fanatical Technisi took to using violence as a way to convince others. These extremists, sometimes destroying entire towns if the people did not cooperate, left much destruction in their wake. The other tribes, especially the Ronea, were furious, and demanded that the Technisi leadership keep their people in line. They did not cooperate, for they viewed the Ronea and other tribes as inferior. The possibility of war erupting became all too obvious.

You are Randir, a well known hero amongst the Ronea. Your village, the small settlement of Ysgrimir, has been threatened, and the village elders have selected you to negotiate with the Technisi. Convince them to cooperate, using diplomacy, or... other means.

So, do you think that'd be a good backstory for a game?

General / I'm Confused. Could Someone Help Me?
« on: July 07, 2012, 01:36 am »
I was browsing YouTube for a while, watching some videos, with the Sploder forums in another tab, but I wasn't paying attention to it. Now I come back, and there's some war between privates and soldiers? Can someone tell me what the hell is going on?

General / Which of These Ideas Should I Expand on?
« on: July 04, 2012, 05:22 pm »
I have some game ideas, but not enough to work on all at once. Which of these should I try to work on first?

Idea #1 - The player is kidnapped by a clandestine, high-class group of assassins, and does various missions for them, eliminating criminals, corrupt politicians, etc. At first, you don't want to work for them, and you try to escape. Eventually, however, you come to realize that you actually enjoy your job. The gameplay would be like the Sploder version of the Hitman series, with the player figuring out how to eliminate their target.

Idea #2 - This would be a series. The player would be a detective, and each game would be one case. The player must pick up clues, search crime scenes, and interrogate people in order to try and solve their case. Clues that you picked up will help you later in the case, but if you fail to pick up certain clues, it will make the case harder. Inspired by L.A. Noire.

Idea #3 - The Misadventures of Troublesome Tommy. In this game, you would be a hippy living in the late 60s - early 70s. You can roam around town, doing jobs for friends, playing minigames, and getting your groove on. Eventually, you begin to discover a conspiracy by "The Man", who tries to ruin your fun. With a little help from your friends, as well as some illegal substances, you must protect your sacred Afros and disco halls from evil.

All plats, btw.
