Hey guys, I know we've had some creative games made in the past in which the hero goes on a quest and saves the world. As opposed to a normal competition on Sploder (at least the ones we've had in the past) where games are put up against one another to see which game is better, I want to see how our characters stand up against one another.

How this will work:

You will post a character from a game you have ALREADY CREATED. In that post you will link the game he is from and detail the feats that this character has accomplished.

What is a feat? A feat is something your character has done, did your character destroy an enemy kingdom? That's a feat. Did your character defeat a terrifying dragon? That's a feat. Did your character move a box? That's a feat.

You get the idea?

Once all of your feats are listed, I will go through your game to check that they are true and rank your character along a power list (which will be kept hidden until the results are shown). Your characters will then be pit against each other red robin style and the winner will be announced.

The format of the posts is as followed:

Name of the Character:
Link to the Game:
Feat 1:
Feat 2:

Round One Competitors:
1. Witch's Chaos: Lordeldar
2. Witch's Chaos: Matty
3. Mount Parabyss: No-Name Hero
4. Petit-Series: Petit Chevalier
5. The horrendous boy: Horrid Henry
6. Puzzle Guy: Puzzle Guy

The Shepherd has lost his flock. The Heretic runs rampant through the forest. The Virgil leads a path for the lambs. The Jesters sit somber in insanity. The God changes those who see him. The God changes those who see him.

The flock fled through the forest, and The Shepherd followed.

Sploder Play / [Hype] A game that will never be finished
« on: May 09, 2018, 10:11 PM »
With an actual end date in sight for Sploder, I just wanted to share some graphics for a game that I was planning on finishing but never will now.

The game was meant to be a platformer full of highly detailed graphics but I only was able to make a few before the announcement came out:

Beyond that, I want to make a tier list of difficulty in the EGL. If someone thinks they can help, please tell me.

The list would be in this format:

Jump Tier
Easy Tier

Game Discussion / LONELY. for EGL
« on: March 12, 2018, 05:38 PM »

I know it's a bit uncouth to suggest your own game for EGL, but I really think it deserves it (and it's also an easy way to get people to play your game so you should probably do it too lol).

I'm going to give my honest opinion of the aspects of my game, as well as compare it to the other handful of great Algorithm games:

So to start off, the way algorithm games have progressed are as follows:

Jessie was the first Algo game to get into the EGL (and was later deleted I believe). The reason for the game to get inducted into the EGL was simply due to its story, at this point in time Algorithm games were extremely standard and it was hard to really differentiate your games.

That was until Youngcaliman discovered that doors work between levels and he made Two Souls One Goal. Now, if you look back at this game it is easily his worst 3D game. Like the combat was really stale and only focused on adding enemies to places where you had to return without giving the combat a breath of fresh air. At this point, an EGL Algorithm game just needed a decent poem/story and the mechanic of switching between levels.

Until Youngcaliman made The Better Man and really showed just how well boss combat could be co-ordinated into a game. Two Souls One Goal showed that the Algorithm creator wasn't as limited as we thought, and The Better Man was pretty much the first good algorithm game that ever came out.

JJS made a game called King Aegon which also was introduced into the EGL, because it was the first non-door mechanic based game which was genuinely fun. And before I touch on Youngcaliman's final Algo game, I want to briefly touch Makever's Felo De Se Sci which was actually a great game and one of the few great 3D games which didn't pass mainly due to the fact that all of the gameplay was a rendition on a single minigame he made over and over again, although I would consider it the most well put together games on Sploder.

Youngcaliman finished off with It Follows, which just added scientist puzzles to his repertoire and kind of ended the evolution of the limited algorithm game creator... or so we THOUGHT!!!

Spellmage comes out with LONELY. A game accessible to people who aren't as good at playing games as JJS, but still hard enough to give everyone a challenge. A game which takes the door puzzle even further... in fact it takes it waaay further than Youngcali could ever dream of taking it. THAT FOOL. A game that doesn't rest its entire story on a simple rhyme scheme, but let's it rest on a poem that most people who don't know me wouldn't even think is meant to be poetic to begin with.

Art/scenery-wise I don't think anyone can really beat Youngcali in that department, but the art in this game is meant to fit the story which makes it look jarring at times.

Story-wise, read it for yourself - but it stems from a topic that we don't discuss often enough and that is depression as well as the fear of loneliness. Also the story secretly hints to what you should do in the game, so if you get stuck you can most likely read a message and learn what to do.

Gameplay-wise, I believe my door-mechanic puzzle is really unparalleled in the Algorithm creator (which is most of the game) and the combat is very well planned even though it is spsplode (I think there are 4 sections in total, not including the boss). I think it's impossible to make a better boss fight than Youngcaliman and I didn't want to recycle his ideas so I decided to make an anti-boss which is more of a puzzle itself.

Anyways give me your thoughts, yay or nay - i'm obviously not counting my own vote.

And I will add my thoughts to each episode as it goes on. Starting off with of course Episode 1A - and if I see any spoilers in this thread i'm deleting it so please don't be a splode.

Episode 1A - There were a bit of tropes added in to this anime (as to be expected though) and when the world was first revealed I felt a very large SAO impression (and I don't like SAO) but the world as of now seems to be different than that of SAO so that is a good thing. I find Subaru to be kinda likeable but also a bit annoying and the chick to be too cliche for my taste so far. Also not a big fan of the magic or spiritual animal business but I tend to not like fantasy animes. I can see potential in this anime and will keep yall updated on my thoughts. Also the soundtrack is pretty good so far.

Episode 1B - I like the direction the anime is taking here, nothing really noteworthy and so far everything is good. I do like the soundtrack a lot.

Episode 2 - Kinda lame episode compared to the first two. Reinhardt was another cliche character to add to the list.

Episode 3 - Oh well it looks like the OP OP of Elsa was taken over by the OP OP of Reinhard. So far the show is pretty good, but nothing spectacular. Most of the characters are pretty bland as of yet and the plot hasn't moved forward.

Episode 4 (Currently Watching) - Roswaal looks a lot like Hisoka from Hunter x Hunter. I've noticed that every ending in an episode is a cliff hanger - nothing much really happened this episode apart from expositories so the episode was kinda mediocre. Also going for the butler job was about as cliche as it can get.

Episode 5- Liking the beginning so far, but after the first minute it reverts back to butler mode. I really hope this is leading somewhere because this Arc in the anime is not that good.

Episode 6 - I liked this episode the most so far out of this butler arc, clear symbolism in the fairy tale towards Rem and Ram although i'm not sure if that fairy tale actually exists. We all know who the witch story is about lol (Emilia or Sutano or whatever her original name was). That rope trick was quite convenient for him to use though. Also where does this kid get any of his power he is supposed to be a neet? And I was thinking his murderer was either Rem or Ram so I got that going for me.

Episode 7 - This is probably the best episode so far, nothing special like the fairy tale symbolism but something to advance the plot. Plus Roswaal definitely gives me the Hisoka vibe when he is ready for combat. Ending was pretty lame though

Episode 8 - Not sure what exactly was revealed this episode, i'm conflicted on what Elise's actions and words meant. Not sure if she knows? But that could explain how she seems to be extremely warmed up to him even though in "reality" they have only known each other for a couple days.

Episode 9 - I thought the hinting towards Rem? being a demon was foreshadowed throughout the earlier episodes. Don't really know if that is accepted or not in the culture of that world. Also Madoka Magika did the going crazy and fighting better:

Episode 10 - It was a mediocre episode, too focused on the fighting which it has so far done a mediocre job with. This show should definitely focus on the mystery it provides.

Episode 11 - Backstory for Rem and Ram for half the episode - nothing really amazing there imo. Second half of the episode was just a typical coming to heart moment.

Episode 12 - It was alright, I enjoy the new characters added in. I expected Felt to have been disposed of and not become the 5th candidate.

This is like halfway through the show and while I think it is a good anime so far it hasn't blown me out of the water. Hopefully it will in the second half

Episode 13 - Oh god those speeches they give are so bad. And the main character Sabuto was being an outright idiot but I believe that was planned. Also, why does he think he can win any fight what-so-ever? I do think the voice acting is good and Subaru delivers again in this episode.

Episode 14 - Pretty okay episode, builds on the Rem and Sabuto relationship and then collectively takes a dump on it. Only good part was the ending

Episode 15 - Starts off strong, hope we can keep this vibe throughout the rest of the episode and show. And now Sabuto is potato mode which is alright for now. Hopefully they don't drag that on forever. Fight scene was cool as well as some of the imagery in this episode. And now we are going towards the 7 sins route so that's cool, I am not sure I want this show to go this route but we will see if they pull it off. Sloth is a cool character but he doesn't match his name. Overall this is the best episode we have had so far. And the ending was done incredibly well.

Episode 16 - Alright episode, I like how they are writing that purple haired princess character.

Episode 17 - I'm liking the direction the show is going now, and Subaru is definitely sounding a little insane now. The art design is alright and the imagery is there, I am really into those dark clouds and hands that come out whenever Subaru is trying to bust out his secret. I also think that sloth is hinting that in order to be successful you have to do the opposite of your name. Not to mention that Puck is papa Elise.

Episode 18 - Start of the episode and Sloth gets destroyed as well as Puck hinting at JUST how strong the witch was. Turns out that the white whale is gluttony so now we know 3 of the sins. A lot of cool imagery in the beginning of the episode and the soundtrack is rocking. This is a pretty good episode all around. I definitely see more of a connection with rem and subaru than I ever saw with Emilia and this episode was the one that really threw it out there. But the end of the episode was the most splodeed thing i've ever seen in my entire life, went from liking him to not liking him. Could have definitely rolled with the real relationship there.

Episode 19 - Nothing much happened here, just them planning to fight the white whale. Pretty boring episode.

Episode 20 - Just a giant whale fight, pretty mediocre

Episode 21 - Whale fight over, thought it would never end. I wish they hired someone who would be able to make it more interesting (but maybe it's just me). I can't wait to see the archbishop v I believe Wilhelm fight coming up. That one should be good, also hope to see that elsa chick from the beginning again.

Episode 22 - So it turns out Juli, Felix, one of those mages and like 30 people are helping out Saburo in this fight. They should probably easily take it, turns out we also got wilhelm or whatever his name is - my only problem is that he reminds me a lot of king bradley with both his looks and his fighting style. The fight was pretty underwhelming but of course it didn't end there and I didn't expect it to with the introduction of his fingers. Also i'm pretty sure it is implied that Wilhelm is Pride.

Episode 23 -  A lot of mediocre battling but a pretty cool ending with Subaru's body being taken over.

Episode 24 - Definitely ran the program better the second time around, the battles were still pretty mediocre in this episode.

Episode 25 - More fighting, Sloth is a lot stronger and the season ended on a boring note. Not happy with the last episode.

Reasons For:

Reasons Against:

"The game is a good game and I believe it is better than most games on Sploder, however, the entire game relies on a game mechanic that, even though it has been used to its fullest potential, doesn't provide enough entertainment to me for me to see it as qualifying for the EGL"

" Where this game falters is that I don't see it as a game I'll remember in one years time or more. Its concept is pretty good, but compare it to a game like Doppelganger and it's not really much. Sure, it introduces a new gimmick but it's not crazy good. Just because something is new doesn't mean that it's EGL worthy, it has to go above and beyond and stand out from the rest of the games on the featured page and do well in all departments. For me this game did things right, but that did not make it an epic game. None of the levels made my jaw drop and go "wow", not like games like Black Widow (amazing puzzles, basically started a new genre of platformer games) and Opprobrium (ingenious level design and well crafted puzzles). Yes, the idea is new, but not all new ideas get voted in to the EGL.

Complaints on the actual gameplay would be that occasionally it would be more heavily focused on execution rather than analysing the sequence (where you had to drop down without touching the lava) and the beginning levels felt dull (1 and 2 really weren't great in comparison to later levels).

Good game, not EGL worthy"

I need to know good placement of items to limit health in both creators. The nitro in shooters and the barrels in plat both seem to be inconsistent damage dealers for the way I place them. Does anyone have a certain placement that can guarantee that sliver of health?

For the shooter I need to limit the player to one bullet of health and for the plat it needs to be a quarter of health or less

Chillin' with a hair tie,
No makeup, with some sweatpants on
You know I can always be that guy
You can think about me all night long

But I think you need something to think of me
Something that will keep you warm
And show you we can be more than just this
So, baby, if you are not ready for my kiss

Then you can wear my sweatshirt
And you can tell your friends
We'll be together 'til the end
Girl, you can wear my sweatshirt
'Cause you're the only one I hold
And I don't want you to be cold
So, baby, wear my...

When you go to sleep at night,
When you wake up in the morning
And when you walk the halls
See, girl, you know you wanna flaunt it

Said this may be the start of something new
Girl, I'm gonna tell you exactly what I wanna do... more than just this
So, baby, if you are not ready for my kiss

Then you can wear my sweatshirt
And you can tell your friends
We'll be together 'til the end
Girl, you can wear my sweatshirt
'Cause you're the only one I hold
