Title: I'm Learning A New Language
Post by: YoungCaliman on October 12, 2012, 11:11 am
It's called Esperanto. I encourage everyone to learn it, because it combines many different languages into one essentially. It's a pretty simple language to learn too. Just after an hour of looking over some of the basics, I can make small conversation and I can ask and answer some basic questions.

It's just a language that combines different European languages and English. It's a language that essentially has no grammer rules and stuff like that. I can give you a few examples:

Kie vi lugxas? Where do you live? (I put an "x" after the g in lugas because it has something on top of the g, but you put an x if you dont want to type it).

Kiu vi estas: How are you: Answer with your name
Kio vi estas: What are you: You must answer with something like: Mi estas studento or Mi estas viro (I am a student or I am a man).

Then you can say something like Kion sxi fotas (Who is she taking pictures of?)

Then you answer with sxi fotas viron (She is photographing the man).

You just gotta use an "n" at the end of the what or who in the question, and you must put an "n" at the end of the object if the statement or question involves a subject and an object. It's just basic stuff like this.

It's actually beneficial to learn. This way you can go to various European countries, and knowing just one language, you can speak to anyone ad they can at least have an idea of what you are saying with this language.

It feels like a cheep knock-off of Latin. Nearly all European languages have their root in Latin, so combining them all just seems like rehashed version of the Latin language.

Oh, and one more thing: If you want to learn Esperanto through a website, then use "Lernu!". It's a really good website for learning Esperanto, especially for beginners.

Honestly who cares? Lol. It's fun to learn and it's beneficial, and it's not an exact combination of languages. It uses certain stuff that you may find in different languages, so no matter who you are speaking to ,they will be able to pick out what you are saying/
