you ever use myspace? bandcamp is in a similar vein of customization in which you gotta utilize css and html to really make your page shine

idk if it's just images you found or you edited them but the aesthetic you've got going on with the overall look of your bandcamp and soundcloud is admirable. nothing catching my ear yet with the music itself though but you've got a good start that's for sure. It'll be a long journey until you're comfortable and skilled enough to release albums and whatnot professionally and don't give up until you're there

You're a real dude and im glad you mentioned the stupid splode i said in that thread instead of just saying all negative/all positive stuff like everyone else does, one of my favorite guys on this site despite me not talking with you much which is my own fault. Respect for knowing when youre wrong which is hard to come by. I can tell you're also a really smart guy and are one of those people that can really do anything if they put their mind to it. That being said i think youre too hard on yourself sometimes which may or may not be in your control. Some of my best memories with you was when we got the gang up and watched surveillance camera man on rabbit. Love you man

Hell yeah, we gotta rabb more or something.

edit: By the way this made me really happy to read you are a great person and I kinda feel bad people can't see it. I'd argue a bit of what has happened as of late was other people poking the bear, and I don't blame you for a lot of it but I am disappointed things turned out the way they did.

You have your head on straight, moreso than anyone else i know. Very well maintained guy with an amazing taste in music, amazing sense of humor and an admirable amount of human decency. You're awesome.

You dont have to tell me the answer but is the doppelganger glitch the same as the copy game glitch?
get fiddler and sublime, save the XML file for the game, edit the file and manually create more than one player, save said file and inject it using fiddler when the creator is fetching the original game file from the database by replacing said file with your own before it loads.

Not to take away from the fact that harsh noise is music to some people, but just looking into avant garde music (or any form of art for that matter) does not guarantee that the person will find it appealing or even consider it themselves to be music.

I can't tell how much of this i've heard from yall posting it on discord and i've never liked it one bit haha
That's true, it's worth giving it a chance though. I've found that you can open yourself up to any form of music given enough time and experience. A good starting point would be here:

fun game, took a stab at it. not too much a fan of the execution of the concept though, the intricate puzzles could likely have been done with tweaks without having the doppleganger glitch

Be careful not to move too quickly here, Geoff still likely has a plan of his own. In his own thread, he mentioned keeping some form of the mainsite alive retaining only it's multiplayer elements. I doubt he'd make a full shutdown happen unless his site was as dead as Zanpo was when it met it's demise.

Why is there consideration of a new discord server though, unlike a website rebranding a server just takes five or ten minutes of work. No need to start from scratch and lose more than a year's worth of progress.

Im sorry but I dont consider screeches and sounds the tv makes when it short circuits music. Thats just my opinion.
Learn what avant garde means and take the time to explore it when you're ready. You'll find that harsh noise and musical projects like hijokaiden, merzbow and others are actually really appealing. If the artist considers it music then it's music to someone.

Good guy who was played a bad hand on this site, don't blame you for the attitude you've taken on as it was one of two options you had after everything happened, the other being to leave. A few of the things you've said in the heat of the moment here and there didn't sit will with me, but I look past it since I know what you're really like. I respect your hustle immensely and look to you for motivation because you're one of the most hardworking people I know.

I don't have a real deep problem with you. It's just so obvious that you blatantly ignore me whenever I try to talk to you and its pretty irritating.
I apologize. It was never my intention to ignore you, if we ever encounter each other in the future I'll try to be more aware of what you have to say.

Personal Exhibition / Re: debut album. o boy by baby man.

Just finished the last track. Not sure how much of this was sampled or if it was entirely original aside from the obvious needledrop sample but what I heard was stellar. Unironically amazing album. Think King Crimson if it debuted in the 21st century. Looking forward to your future projects.

Making this thread was a recommendation made by a friend, wasn't going to do it otherwise so thanks to them. I've made a number of poor decisions on this site, ones that finally caught up to me. Rightfully so too, the extent of my actions was something I never fully realized until it came at me all at once.

If any of you are willing to talk things out with me, be it confirmation of things said, putting things to rest- whatever it may be, I'm willing to hear your side out and I will make an effort to be as objective as possible and favor what you have to say. This isn't something I'm trying to force on anyone, and if you feel there's nothing that could come out of this I understand.

I wouldn't be comfortable doing this publicly, but I'll respond to questions here if I have to. Otherwise, my discord is sticki#9675

General / Re: Why do Japanese websites look like it's still 2001
« on: July 16, 2018, 04:23 PM »
Calculated minimalism and the incentive to make everything appeal to the user on a scientific level of design isn't prevalent in Japanese designs, and this includes their websites. Brocky does raise a point, though I'm not sure about it's validity, but even if that had an effect on Japan's webdev scene, they'd still pump out strikingly similar sites anyways. You can compare most Japanese design styles to early-mid 2000s designs from here in America and most worldwide giants before everything shifted to minimalism and the similarities are endless.

If you need someone to pay for hosting for whatever reason I can pitch in. Again though $5-10/mo is nothing, with the addition of the $10/year domain running a site is the most inexpensive thing ever.

alright, if Geoff closes shop we can call our site Splodah.

When I was referring to implementing features of our own, I meant more than the SMF side of the site. If you check out the sites I mentioned, their primary focuses are still the forums, but they also have extra features directly related to the topics they represent and are both responsible and necessary for their notoriety. If we were to have some sort of news section, article area, media sharing aspect to it then I think our chances of survival on our own are boosted. I doubt a lone SMF forum would make it anywhere on it's own without clout to back it up. Of course this is discussion meant for the future but I wanted to get my ideas here as soon as possible in-case I miss my future chances. Did I make sense?

When you talk about a new forum, would it retain the old db/url? Geoff had mentioned that he'd be willing to pay to keep the server going, but if that wasn't a possiblity for him would any effort be made to retrieve the data he had collected, or would the staff focus on a fresh transition? If a site were to emerge from the ruins of sploder, a new focus or feature should be implemented with the forums still remaining a additive to draw new users in, and I already have numerous ideas of how this could be implemented in a safe and natural manner, taking liberties from sites like GBAtemp, and smwcentral.
