General / Re: Opinion for opinion thread

Good guy who was played a bad hand on this site, don't blame you for the attitude you've taken on as it was one of two options you had after everything happened, the other being to leave. A few of the things you've said in the heat of the moment here and there didn't sit will with me, but I look past it since I know what you're really like. I respect your hustle immensely and look to you for motivation because you're one of the most hardworking people I know.

I don't have a real deep problem with you. It's just so obvious that you blatantly ignore me whenever I try to talk to you and its pretty irritating.
I apologize. It was never my intention to ignore you, if we ever encounter each other in the future I'll try to be more aware of what you have to say.

Personal Exhibition / Re: debut album. o boy by baby man.

Just finished the last track. Not sure how much of this was sampled or if it was entirely original aside from the obvious needledrop sample but what I heard was stellar. Unironically amazing album. Think King Crimson if it debuted in the 21st century. Looking forward to your future projects.

Making this thread was a recommendation made by a friend, wasn't going to do it otherwise so thanks to them. I've made a number of poor decisions on this site, ones that finally caught up to me. Rightfully so too, the extent of my actions was something I never fully realized until it came at me all at once.

If any of you are willing to talk things out with me, be it confirmation of things said, putting things to rest- whatever it may be, I'm willing to hear your side out and I will make an effort to be as objective as possible and favor what you have to say. This isn't something I'm trying to force on anyone, and if you feel there's nothing that could come out of this I understand.

I wouldn't be comfortable doing this publicly, but I'll respond to questions here if I have to. Otherwise, my discord is sticki#9675

General / Re: Why do Japanese websites look like it's still 2001
« on: July 16, 2018, 04:23 PM »
Calculated minimalism and the incentive to make everything appeal to the user on a scientific level of design isn't prevalent in Japanese designs, and this includes their websites. Brocky does raise a point, though I'm not sure about it's validity, but even if that had an effect on Japan's webdev scene, they'd still pump out strikingly similar sites anyways. You can compare most Japanese design styles to early-mid 2000s designs from here in America and most worldwide giants before everything shifted to minimalism and the similarities are endless.

If you need someone to pay for hosting for whatever reason I can pitch in. Again though $5-10/mo is nothing, with the addition of the $10/year domain running a site is the most inexpensive thing ever.

alright, if Geoff closes shop we can call our site Splodah.

When I was referring to implementing features of our own, I meant more than the SMF side of the site. If you check out the sites I mentioned, their primary focuses are still the forums, but they also have extra features directly related to the topics they represent and are both responsible and necessary for their notoriety. If we were to have some sort of news section, article area, media sharing aspect to it then I think our chances of survival on our own are boosted. I doubt a lone SMF forum would make it anywhere on it's own without clout to back it up. Of course this is discussion meant for the future but I wanted to get my ideas here as soon as possible in-case I miss my future chances. Did I make sense?

When you talk about a new forum, would it retain the old db/url? Geoff had mentioned that he'd be willing to pay to keep the server going, but if that wasn't a possiblity for him would any effort be made to retrieve the data he had collected, or would the staff focus on a fresh transition? If a site were to emerge from the ruins of sploder, a new focus or feature should be implemented with the forums still remaining a additive to draw new users in, and I already have numerous ideas of how this could be implemented in a safe and natural manner, taking liberties from sites like GBAtemp, wololo.net and smwcentral.

why did you ever leave us

yeah that's the one. Also I updated my post to include the actual song name, lemme know what you think of Whaley's World. It may not have the same impact on you since you expect something grand but for me it was delightfully unexpected.

*clicks on 3:26:30 in the video at random*

"Wtf, I've never heard this song in all of my years on Sploder."

It'll be really surreal to hear what the broken songs have intended to sound like this whole time.
Check the bandcamp page instead of the video, as the video has a few missing/broken parts. The three broken songs were lobster rock, game and something parrot i forget the actual name.

Many of the songs were rarely used, and when they were utilized we usually only heard a few seconds of them. My favorite example of this is Whaley's World by don cato, for the first two minutes it's nice but rather average, and then for the last two minutes it's impeccable and it quickly became my favorite song because of that. Unfortunately I only ever heard the latter half outside of sploder.
