General / Re: Recreating the Shooter in HTML 5 - [Update 22/11/17]

Would open-sourcing the shooter code help you?

By the way, I really appreciate the out-of-the-box thinking. I've always been looking for the "magic formula" that would turn consumerism on its head and facilitate visceral "profit" through creativity. I think the shorthand word for that is "art."

on now

Interesting but I wouldn't pursue it unless there was a creative aspect to it.

frontend: TypeScript

backend: golang

I'd say C# is more advanced but Python is a better first language to learn.

General / Avatar T-shirts?
« on: November 10, 2017, 11:49 PM »
Would people be interested in sploder t-shirts where they could make one with their own avatar?

I am going to do something... it will probably involve open-sourcing all the creators and game engines. People could decide to contribute to a porting branch or fork it and launch it on their own website. The biggest problem is the code is quite old and there's a lot of, well, mess.

My preferred stack would be typescript + pixi.js to run the games in HTML5. If you've never seen pixi.js you should check it out. http://www.pixijs.com/

Well, I don't have the funds to hire people. But, I'm thinking about ways people with interest can contribute in a fair way. I imagine it would be a good experience and a way to build github contribution traffic. Also if someone writes excellent code I would endorse them on LinkedIn and act as a reference.

thanks for the feedback! I'm happy to see the enthusiasm and positivity. I'm thinking of ways to use "other people's skills" to help keep the creativity alive.

Copy paste the creators’ code into a notepad file, and end the names with .html, and bam!

GENIUS!

General / Game Views Bug Fix
« on: November 04, 2017, 09:37 PM »
Looks like I introduced a bug in the game views counter when I added the security fix. In some cases no views would be counted for a game. I've fixed and deployed changes.

Thanks to Cian for reporting this.

General / View Exploit - IF YOU CHEATED FIX YOUR GAMES
« on: October 29, 2017, 08:23 PM »
Anyone who abused this should Save AS and republish their games for which they cheated views. I'll give it 10 days. Anyone who hasn't fixed them will get all their view zeroed out.

I ask the forums help to post a list of links to games here.

So, it's confirmed guys. Geoff just doesn't have the time or health to spend too much time on sploder anymore. I think we should thank Geoff for making this awesome site. You're awesome Geoff!
