I think I did well... Let's pray that I did. Now to write a long long paper for the class.

Why would you consider those to be objectively best but not also your favorites?
oh yeah lain is a favorite too

I enjoyed the first season. The second season feels really stupid right now - the stands are boring and the characters lack depth. Not that they all need it, but all of them are pretty cookie cutter.

I hope you do, it would be great to see more lists here haha. I love Studio Ghibli but the only two movies of theirs that really stand out to me are Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle. Not to say that the rest aren't excellent, but those two are in a league of their own.  As you can see by my list, I really love Shounen. And forget what I said earlier about Naruto, FMA was definitely the first anime I had seen (albeit I only was able to see the first season when I was younger). That being said, while I think it is a great anime, something about it never really cemented it as one of my favorites. If I had to say where it would place, it probably is somewhere in my top 20 or 30.
I typically hate Shounen

If I had to extend it, I think this would be pretty accurate:

11. Tatami Galaxy
12. Spirited Away
13. Made in Abyss
14. Death Note
15. Howl's Moving Castle
16. My Hero Academia
17. Kaiba
18. Count of Monte Cristo
19. Cowboy Bebop
20. Food Wars
Now you've got my attention. Kaiba is a master piece along with Tatami Galaxy. Cowboy Bebop is a personal favorite, but for reasons it was one I first watched and had a more mature feeling to it. Ergo Proxy is in that same ballpark.

Let's have an anime discussion

My top ten

1. Hunter x Hunter
2. Ping Pong the Animation
3. Mononoke
4. Tekkonkinkreet (Although it is a movie)
5. Samurai Champloo
6. No Game No Life
7. Mob Psycho 100
8. Naruto
9. Haikyuu
10. Megalobox (This is really new so my opinion could change but i'm loving it so far)
Good list. Hunter x Hunter is one of the best. Surprised not to see FMA Brotherhood.

Wish me luck everyone. I'm utilizing every technique up my sleeve to pass it. The handy dandy graphing calculator is the best.. I've programmed it to spit out notes and functions as needed.

I'll read through the whole thread later & give thoughts but I saw some mention of Xamarin and thought I should mention it's used to make UWP apps on Windows—definitely not phone exclusive, that's half the point.
Phone exclusion isn't a point anymore, but moreso the focus would be on distributed platforms.

could geoff still finish the 3d creator of gove it to a well trusted member to finish. maybe the creator could be made and the entire centerpiece of sploder would be the creator rather than the other creators. he said he was working in javascript so once flash goes down all the creators will but not the 3d creator. sploder could potentially be more successful than it already is or ever was if the entire focus of sploder was that one creator.
Mobile support is a strong need. To be honest, more creators are not going to strengthen Sploder, it's the ability to be ported across different platforms. The idea of mobile exclusion can be rid of; however, the strongest to platforms should be a desktop application through Steam, a mobile version through Google Play and Apple App Store, and then the website. Although using tools like Ionic (HTML everywhere lol) may make it easier, cross platform development is known to cause performance loss.

jajaja you guys are so cute
If you don't have anything productive to say, kindly leave this thread.

I see another fellow member that wants to do a better sploder, rather it's the original sploder or not, I would like to help saving sploder, some members tried/ing to make the creators that are made in flash to html5, so it'll still live on, but they try to do it alone like geoff did, I've already made a plan how to save sploder and these are the steps (i made it to look like a form)

1. Get as much people that will to help.
2. Seperate groups of people to work on each topic (creator, advertisement, ideas and more).
3. Each group will seperate jobs like programmers, data seekers and more.
4. Time limit to finish project: 2 years.
5. In case time limit has passed and with geoff's permission to it, we can make a new sploder website and be a team working on sploder instead of 1 geoff only.

[V] By marking V inside the square you agree to the steps that are written above.
[ ] By marking V inside the square you got geoff's permission to do this project.

[Start working on the project button after all squares are marked V]
I see no reason for everyone to work on separate projects of the desired goal is the same. It would be best to gather them all up here and then coordinate the tasks.

looking on the site and on the large header there's a mention of Windows. You sure about that?
I was sure that was directed to Windows Phone, but I could be wrong. *shrugs*.
Seems like a difficult task, but I would be elated to see sploder stay alive in some form. I'm not holding my breath though.
I agree, it would essentially mean that I would have to work as hard as Geoff did to create the new platform. Its possible, but his work ethic isn't something to be trifled with.

Not a fan of the mobile exclusivity at all, mobile games as a trend are already slowly fizzling out for indie devs as large corporations are filling the market with well-made games. We couldn't compete without an already established presence. Rather than restrict ourselves to a browser-based game creator, a downloadable cross-platform app which could possibly find it's way onto steam that has a mobile app down the road would be a desirable course of action.

The most I could help with is marketing and GFX if that'd be of any use.
I believe Xamarin supports OSX as well, but not Windows, which would be a big hit. Then again, I also hate Windows lol. I believe having it on Steam would be a good course of action as well. Again, I feel a problem is connecting with enough people - Steam would definitely resolve that issue.

General / Sploder V2
« on: March 15, 2018, 08:31 PM »
What is Sploder V2? Well, its an unannounced title to a project I'd liked to begin. And I haven't started yet, but its more-so in the process of making. It might not even take off from the ground depending on how things go.

But Sploder V2 is going to be the reimagining of Sploder. I'd like Geoff's permission before thinking too far ahead of this project, but I think the spirit of Sploder can live on if it changes to the current era. The current era for quick gaming is no longer websites but rather mobile platforms. The power of a computer at your hand is reality, and Sploder must move with that reality if it's to survive.

Geoff has a lot going on right now, and completely revamping Sploder would involve a lot of time, love, and dedication. Did I say time? Because it would take a LONG time to do this. But some basic ideas I've got right now are as following.

Current Requirements/Ideas:
 - Scrap the main site for V2. The world works on apps, and therefore the focus of game development and playing should be done on mobile platforms. At some point the main site can be reintegrated, but for starters it'd have to go.
 - [?] Mobile Application. Xamarin for cross platform usage for iOS and Android.
 - Steam application for OSX and Windows
 - This forum could persist as a Sploder forum in this event.
 - Possible migration of current data to new platforms. This might not be completely possible, but it can be looked into.
 - react native

There's obviously a lot more to go over, but this is just the elevator pitch. I'd like to look for help from a given set of individuals who are skills in web development to any degree. If you don't have experience and still want to help, your part will come much later for testing it, but that would be way down the road.

Right now, I've got a LOT to learn before embarking on this project, and needing to compile a list of tools necessary for making it happen. I don't want to start anything without Geoff's consent to continue the community and experience that is Sploder, but I sincerely hope I can help out.

If your interested in this, and think you have some experience, then just drop a comment. Once there is a decision of Geoff's behalf, we can take it from there.

This would be a huge project, but with some capital to start and a development team which you can begin building right here it definitely could work, and you seem to know exactly how that'd work. Looking forward to see how things go.
Sadly, I don't have the capital, and turning Sploder into a corporation just sounds.... wierd lol. But it would be a free-time project I have between a 40 hour job after I graduate and my girlfriend.

If you can do this and get access to the database to merge your new site with the old I'd be extremely happy because you've always been in my eyes one of the most fit to replace Geoff.
*sheds one manly tear*

I appreciate the compliment. To be frank, I don't know if the current makers are going to survive the new age. Perhaps with a mobile app development they would. I honestly think that Sploder could have amazing potential in Game Design classes, where instead of crafting games from scratch in Unity or a lesser YoYo games, they could be implemented with Sploder. Perhaps a new spotlight on G4 would be pretty sweet too.

Of course, it'll be a long long road, but a pretty cool one. It would take at least a year or two to have a draft of the project done.

Given that, I think Sploder actually needs a beef-up, with an advanced mode, where the parameters of each object can be altered, and new types of objects can be created. Basic mode would function as old Sploder does, and serve as a learning ground to how Sploder works. And perhaps a super-duper advanced mode where users can program more aspects of the game maker.

I definitely think its best to have separate makers instead of one giant one. Although that would be complete freedom, I don't think Sploder has ever been too much about complete crafting with that respect. I think Sploder works best with some boundaries set.

For this reason, I think its possible to merge the database, but Sploder V2 MUST have more options fit for both a younger and older audience for it to survive.

The only problem is it's more than likely the interest won't be there fully and you'd have to make changes to fit the current interests of the masses.
Essentially We'd become mobile platform developers. I was thinking Xamarin for cross-platform usage. I'm pretty sure we would need to update a lot regarding how the games are played and what games are available. The web portion of Sploder V2 would come later, as getting the attention of the masses is much better.

oh for sure, but who would be interested?
Well, I'm one person. So far that is enough to get started.

Doesn't seen like Geoff would be up to the task, but if that isn't the case I'd be down. Again, seems like more of a pipe dream to me than anything.
Who said we needed Geoff? We can develop it. Well, if anyone has programming experience. Geoff was one dude who programmed the entire Main Site, I'm sure a few of us can get together, start a GitHub, and get to it.

Instead of just re-branding Sploder, there is the possibility of creating Sploder V2. Of course we'd need web developers on board... but if that can be resurfaced before all Sploder members wander off, then a new home could be found. Of course, there's some intense architectural changes on every account that to be revamped, and it would take quite quite some time to make.

Already took those classes lol. But I would argue its extremely vital to understand algorithms, so paying attention 200% and studying them on your own is important. Also studying software design patterns are super useful too.

I'm writing a technical report for a directed independent study for school. Its about gathering data from sensors and creating a meaningful way to display the information and create a notification system for when things are out of place.

So in other words, its a bit tedious lol.

What are you all up to?

Ambivert master race reporting in. While i have introverted tendencies, I can navigate any and all social situations pretty well, which leads to a high work ethic and decent networking. Life is good.
