Forum Guide to BBcode:
What is BBcode?
BBcode stands for "bulletin board code" and is a user friendly way to give users the tools of HTML, the language used for building websites, with minimal possibility for abuse and minimal difficulty to learn. The specifics of it vary from forum to forum, but thankfully, the buttons at the top of the new post page and this tutorial should teach you everything you need to know.

Why learn BBcode?
BBcode is the thing on the forum that allows you to have text that looks like this or does this. It is a useful tool for formatting posts and sharing media. You can make your hype threads stand out or put images in your signature using BBcode; it's really just a great thing to take a moment and learn.

Example codes (credit to Sree for the original version of this list):

Code: [Select]
[b]text[/b] Makes text bold.

Code: [Select]
[i]text[/i] Makes text italicized.

Code: [Select]
[u]text[/u] Underlines text.

Code: [Select]
[s]text[/s] Strikes out text.

Code: [Select]
[glow=red,2,50]glow[/glow] Adds a glowing effect to text, the numbers and color can be changed for different results.

Code: [Select]
[shadow=red,left]shadow[/shadow] Adds a shadow effect to text.

Code: [Select]
[move]text[/move] Makes anything scroll from right to left.
Code: [Select]
[pre]text[/pre]
Preformats enclosed text.

Code: [Select]
[left]left align[/left]
Aligns anything to the left (the forum does this automatically).

Code: [Select]
[center]centered[/center]
Aligns anything to the center.

Code: [Select]
[right]right align[/right]
Aligns anything to the right.

Code: [Select]
[hr]
Inserts a horizontal rule (look just above this text). There is no [/hr] necessary.

Code: [Select]
[size=10pt]font size[/size] Adjusts the size of text.

Code: [Select]
[font=Verdana]font face[/font] Used to change the font of text.

Code: [Select]
[flash=200,200]http://somesite/somefile.swf[/flash]   Embeds a flash file (such as a youtube video) in .swf format. One can embed a youtube video by following these steps:
  • Click "Share" under the video
  • Click "Embed" in the share popup thing
  • Click the "Use old embed code" checkbox
  • Copy the (http://www.youtube.com...) URL from the movie parameter into the BBcode
One can embed a sploder game by following these steps:
  • Click the "My Games" link on the mainsite
  • Click on the link to the game you want to embed
  • Click the "Get link" button under the game
  • Copy the link into your BBCode

Code: [Select]
[img]http://somesite/image.jpg[/img]   Inserts an image into a Post or personal message. One can get the link to any image on the internet by right clicking on it and then selecting "Copy Image Location" from the context menu. One could also specify the height and width of an image by including height=# and width=# in the first [img] tag.

Code: [Select]
[url=http://somesite/]Site Name[/url] Makes text link to the site specified in the [url=thing]

Code: [Select]
[email=someone@somesite]Somename[/email]   Makes text link to an email.

Code: [Select]
[ftp=ftp://somesite]somesite[/ftp]Makes text link to an FTP address.

Code: [Select]
[sup]text[/sup] Formats enclosed text as a superscript.

Code: [Select]
[sub]text[/sub] Formats enclosed text as a subscript.

Code: [Select]
[tt]text[/tt] Formats enclosed text in teletype format.

Code: [Select]
[code]code[/coɗe]   Used to display code in a simple manner (note: ending tag used in example code is using a different "d" to prevent the BBcode from breaking. Type in a normal d instead of a ɗ).

Code: [Select]
[quote=Author link=http://somesite/]text[/quote]
Quote from: Ravicale
Places enclosed text in a quote box.

Code: [Select]
[list]
[li]Thing 1[/li]
[li]Thing 2[/li]
[/list]
Creates a list, with [li] adding more items to the list and [list] marking the start and end of the list.

You can also use the following in place of [li] to use different bullets:

Code: [Select]
[list]
[o]circle
[O]circle
[0]circle
[*]disc
[@]disc
[+]square
[x]square
[#]square
[/list]

Code: [Select]
[abbr=exemlpi gratia]eg[/abbr] or [acronym=Simple Machines Forum]SMF[/acronym] Dtfeftaom
Hint: mouse over the above text.
Both function the same

Code: [Select]
[nobbc] [/nobbc] [b][i][size=11pt] BBcode in the encased area is ignored.[/b][/i][/size]

Code: [Select]
[time]1132809040[/time]   Converts a Unix Timestamp into a time recognizable by people.

Code: [Select]
[iurl=http://somesite/]http://somesite/[/iurl] Acts like URL but ensures that it opens in the same window.

Code: [Select]
[table][tr][td][/td][/tr][/table][table] creates a table, which makes use of two more tags inside of it to be useful. [tr] creates a table row. Within these rows one can create columns with [td] and then put things inside of them. An example of a functional table in code is:
Code: [Select]
[table][tr][td]This[/td][td]fancy[/td][/tr][tr][td]table[/td][/tr][/table]which looks like this-
Thisfancy
table

If you want my attention on Discord, DM me instead of pinging me. I ignore @everyones, and there's no way to separate those from actual pings.
