Platformer OR Gate
« on: February 07, 2019, 04:29 am »

This is quite useful for traditional Sploder RPGs, allowing the player to choose between several objectives, reducing linearity and increasing player control. Note that the player will need to come into the enemies' proximity at some point to activate the mechanism.

I think he means that for the player to make a decision they can choose between two one-way doors and there be separate paths from each one.

This was not designed to let players decide between two paths. It was designed so that ONE path can be activated by a variety of possible inputs. For example, in a Sploder RPG, the player could be tasked to bring back a carton of milk, but such cartons could be found in three or so separate places, so you would use my OR Gate design to give each carton of milk equal impact.

I understand now. That's actually really useful. Maybe I'll give making an RPG a shot.

Updated the thread body with a more compact design, the new design also facilitates remote activation, as wheels are a lot easier to control than ninjas.
