How is any player supposed to figure this out independently? I understand that you are pursuing a simplistic aesthetic, but the shapes could still be more evocative of purpose. It also makes no sense that the red orb is only made accessible once you walk past an otherwise arbitrary invisible threshold.
If form suited function, the player would be rewarded for observing their environment.
While on the topic of visual distinction, the second level featured a dynamite barrel of similar tone to the red used for ALL hazards, which misled me for a few moments. Color is important in guiding the player, assigning one color to a variety of vastly different elements only serves to confuse us, and can easily mislead us, as mentioned earlier.
