HTML5 Creators
« on: January 29, 2019, 09:52 am »
If Geoff were to remake the creators for HTML5 rather than convert them, what would you want him to change about the old creators? Personally I'd want the Algorithm Crew and Shooter controls combined, so that the player could move and shoot independently, but without the creative constraints of the Algorithm Crew's creator.

(Please note that this is purely theoretical, Geoff has not publicly confirmed that there will be any conversion or remastering of Sploder's creators post-Flash)

Levels in shooter
Saves for every creator
Bigger variety of objects in algo
Remove some of the limits with arcade (How far back you can go, only having 1 of each thing in a column)
More keys and doors in plat
Having variables we can change to allow for things like multiple endings. Also allowing text to change once certain things happen.

We need more layers in the PPG to make layering more efficient. Also, more sensor, collision and pass through layers!

PPG:
-More triggers! Like you can change the song from ex: Bubbleverse to Experimental U
-Custom music if its possible

Platformer:
-Customizable enemy: You can customize it speed, appearance, health, damage and add items onto it like swords and shields.

Actually, I'd also like an option in the PPG (set by the game maker) which starts the music of the level only after pressing play. This would mean you could create games synced to the music.

Now were talkin'! Oh I almost forgot, The how to play HAS to be longer. Because when I put like a dialogue it doesnt let me continue further (plus we need to add these simbols : = + - _ ? < > etc...)

We also need a bigger playfield. It's way too small for most games. It would have so much potential if it were bigger.

I would want a clipboard for all of the creators, like the physics has. I would also like a blank creator so you can start completely from scratch. Possibly new and more options with the graphics creator, but this is not needed as much...

I think also more puzzles and keys for the algorithm would be nice...

More levels in physics, bigger level landscape in physics and less lagging when creating large areas in platformer.I would also like a feature in each of the creators in which when you play you are able to see other players who are playing at the same time in the game, but not necessarily touch them if you want, like a ghost which is able to be turned off.

Great idea. Features like this make Sploder feel more active.

I had a thought earlier that popped into my head out of the blue for some reason. I would love a multi-activate checkbox on the events tab. So, for example, if you had multi-activate turned on and had a clicker on an object with score on sensor, each time you clicked it you'd score a point. This would be useful in many, many ways.

Another little thing is it'd be really nice to be able to lock an object though sensor events. We can unlock, but not lock, and I have no idea why.

Maybe we can add separate color floors on the classic shooter maker... it helps when you make like environmental stuff

Or just a new poly type that doesn't affect gameplay but you can change its colour.

It'd be great if the Platformer had more accurate jumping mechanics. Jumping is the core of platforming, so the slippery, unresponsive jumps of Sploder's creator are a letdown. This bleeds over into the Platformer's combat as well.

Some games did a good job with this, however, like paint it black

There's a thing called flipping. I think it's a pretty good jump technique. You can also use pausing to your advantage.

I'm not a baby Star, I know what flipping is. You missed the point there, it's still just as slippery, and players shouldn't have to use glitches just to have a stable platforming experience.

That doesn't make him right, (or wrong) just because of that. Its kinda both. You shouldnt have to rely on glitches, but you can

Reliance on glitches wasn't my main point there, it's more about how using flipping and pausing physics DO NOT nullify the platformer's slippery controls.

It'd be great if the Platformer creator allowed for brush-based geometry (like the Shooter's polygons) rather than the use of individual tiles. We'd be able to create some very interesting geometry, throw in the Shooter's Caps Lock Snapping Toggle and we could finally go off grid in the Platformer without glitches.

There's is a glitch that allows you to place blocks wherever you want. First, set down the block anywhere. Then pick it back up and hover over where you want it. Next, right click whilst still holding in left click and then let go and the block should stay there.

Yes, that's why I said ' without glitches '
