[Denied] A day with Blueton
« on: April 25, 2013, 01:41 pm »
Game: V8

Maker: Daniel567

Creator: Physics Puzzle Maker

Genre: Action, puzzle.

Release date: Saturday April 6th, 2013.

-Introduction-

Hello, and welcome to my first review. Today I will be reviewing one of the best game of Daniel, V8. He created this game to show his creativity in making graphics, sceneries and puzzles in the Physics Puzzle Game Maker.  He is truly a great creator and has earned himself quite a lot of views and contests. I first saw this game on his profile and thought to make a walkthrough for it, but it was impossible. Why? Read to find out. I have played through the entire game to give you the in-depth review you have been clamoring for. V8 could be over 10 minutes long, so be prepared.

Review:

V8 is a very challenging game. He created a story system and I actually have tried to do the same thing as him, but I failed. Anyway, some of the effects was made by me =D. The special thing I noticed on this game are the ideas used and the addictivenness. V8 consists of several places which resemble a lot with  the old Nintendo games and this is new to Sploder.

-Gameplay-
Protagonists and Antagonists:

Yes, I have much to say about this. Daniel created his own species which are called Blueton and Purpleton and each of them had its planet. Purpletons got jealous for the powerful crystal that was created from Bluetons so this was the cause of the war. You are able to control the one of the Bluetons and his spirit. You are opposed to Purpletons which are everywhere and fluster you while playing. I found the antagonists on this game not in the right placement. A little more effort and this game maybe can picked by the editors.

Controls:

Unfortunately, this was the worst thing I found on this game. I asked him for this, but he answered me that he had no time for that. Anyway, the controls change according to the character that you are commanding through the game. The moving speed is very large and it is hard to avoid enemies, anyway, you can control the player with the directional arrows, WASD and left click or dragging the mouse.

Graphics:

His graphics are some of my favorites. Maybe the graphics doesn’t fit with the sceneries but they were very realistic and I can tell that Daniel would have spent a lot of time in to them. What I did notice though is that there was a mixture of bird eye view and side view, which isn't really realistic and make this game a little unreal. Graphics were still good and enough to make this game attractive.

Level Design:

As I mentioned before, there was a mixture of bird eye view and side view. This affects to the level design and make this game look different in every level. Well, some traps are near the wall and look like they are part of it. The game started as a normal game with
rectangular and squares and it ends with a real level design with houses, grass, stone etc. The final levels were a little “poor” to be honest.

Puzzles:

Yes, a lot of puzzles at the beginning of the game which makes hard to understand the controls and what you have to do through the game. Puzzles were repetitive, collecting keys and unlocking doors and nothing else.

Music:

I call Daniel a DJ because he is good at finding the best music for the game. V8 needed quiet songs and noisy songs depending to what level are you. The boss battle need a hard song and I quite enjoyed the choices of Daniel. Good job, mate.

Lag:

Hopefully, no. Not for me, anyway. =D

Glitches:

Have you every played my game Catlorful? That game is full of glitches because of the linkers and filled everywhere with objects. Same thing for V8. The controls are very glitchy, I must say. You can find a lot during a fast moving.

Rating (Drums)

Gameplay: 3/5

Difficulty: 4/5

Action: 4/5

Puzzles: 3/5

Traps: 0/5 (Did I mentioned them)?

Scenery: 3/5

Placement: 3/5

Lag: 0.5/5

Addictiveness and creativity: 4/5

Total rating: 3/5

G1’s final thoughts:

To sum up, I have chosen this game to review because Daniel worked hard on it and I liked how he created all the story, bosses and the puzzles. Hey cheer up, you are lucky Daniel because I am very strict at rating and giving opinions on the game. This game was
featuring a lot of interesting puzzles, and I would definitely recommend this game to other players to try out.

Feature-worthy?

No, I have decided to rate this game as not feature-worthy. The reason is what I stated above. This game needs a lot of effort and time to work with it. Maybe if he can repair what he has done wrong with this game on V8 Ch.II, he can get on the featured page. Maybe…

I am now done. Thanks for watching and please subscribe… oh sorry. Thanks for reading and have a nice day. I hope I didn’t waste your time for nothing with this review and I hope you enjoyed reading it. Bye, bye.

There is better things to talk about than what you did. I didn't think you covered a lot of the game either.

You may reply on the 13th of June
